About Us
Clerics Regular of Somasca – Nigeria
Who We Are
The Clerics Regular of Somasca, popularly known as the Somascan Fathers, are a religious congregation founded by Saint Jerome Emiliani in 1532. We are dedicated to the service of the poor, the abandoned, and the formation of youth through education and pastoral ministry.
Our History
Founded in Italy in the 16th century, the Somascan Fathers have carried the charism of charity and education across continents. In Nigeria, our mission continues through parishes, schools, and social apostolates.
Our Charism & Spirituality
Our spirituality is rooted in trust in Divine Providence and love for the poorest of the poor. We live community life centered on prayer, fraternal charity, and apostolic service.
Saint Jerome Emiliani
Saint Jerome Emiliani (1486–1537) was a soldier turned priest, known as the Father of Orphans. His life of charity continues to inspire our mission today.
Our Mission in Nigeria
The Somascan Fathers Nigeria Province serves the Church through parishes, schools, youth ministry, and social services, especially among the most vulnerable.
